Terms of Service

Effective date: August 26, 2026

These are the terms for using Vidar. They’re written to be read, not skimmed past — the two sections that matter most are training is at your own risk and the service is provided as is. By creating an account or using Vidar, you agree to them.

What Vidar is

Vidar is an algorithm-driven strength training app: it generates training sessions from the profile, equipment, recovery, and training history you give it. It is currently free to use and in active development— features change, numbers get recalibrated, and things occasionally break. We label what’s solid and what’s still calibrating on The Science page, and a plain-language summary of what changed lives on the Changelog.

Training is at your own risk

Vidar is not medical advice, and the algorithm is not a doctor, physiotherapist, or coach. It programs training from the information you provide; it cannot see you move, diagnose an injury, or know your medical history beyond what you enter.

Consult a physician before starting this or any exercise program, especially if you have a medical condition, an injury, or haven’t trained in a long time. Stop any exercise that causes pain. You are responsible for using safe form, sane loads, and appropriate equipment. To the extent permitted by law, you accept the inherent risks of physical training and agree that you train at your own risk.

Your account

You need an account to train with Vidar. Protect your sign-in credentials, give us accurate information (the algorithm programs off it — wrong inputs mean wrong sessions), and be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live.

If you choose Google sign-in, Google’s Terms and Privacy Policy apply to Google’s part of that sign-in. Email-and-password sign-in remains available through Vidar and Supabase.

You can stop using Vidar at any time, and you can have your account and data deleted by emailing hello@vidar.fit (see the Privacy Policy).

Fair use

Don’t abuse the service: no attempting to access another member’s data outside a coach connection they accepted and the categories they turned on, no probing or overloading the infrastructure, no scraping the app, and no using it to build or train a competing dataset. We may suspend access that violates these terms.

The help chat is only for questions about using Vidar. Don’t submit passwords, sign-in codes, payment information, or private health details there, and don’t misuse it.

Your training data

Your data is yours. By using Vidar you give us the limited permission we need to store and process it in order to run the service for you — generating your sessions, tracking your progress, and fixing bugs. What we do and don’t do with it is spelled out in the Privacy Policy.

If you accept a coach connection, accepting shares the six read-only categories with that coach; permission to program your training is separate and stays off until you grant it. Your permission extends only to what is turned on at the time. You can withdraw any of it, or end the connection, at any time. A coach may use the shared data to support you, but may not copy, sell, scrape, or use it outside that coaching relationship.

Provided as is

Vidar is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. We work hard to keep it accurate and online, but we don’t promise uninterrupted service, error-free prescriptions, or specific results, and we may add, change, or remove features as the product develops.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability to you for any claim arising out of your use of Vidar is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim — which, while Vidar is free, is zero. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we’ll update this page and the effective date at the top. Continuing to use Vidar after that date means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of Vidar must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Utah, and you and we consent to those courts’ jurisdiction.
